[00:00:00] Hello, welcome to your Daily grace. By Timothy Wilder Foundations Episode 73 the Holy Spirit your body, the dwelling place of God When Paul writes, your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 6:19, he is not using poetic language. He is describing a seismic shift in identity. In the Old Testament, God's presence dwelled in a physical structure first the tabernacle, then the temple. But through Christ, that reality has moved locations. The dwelling place of God is no longer a building. It is you, Paul repeats, this are God's temple and God's Spirit dwells in you. 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 17 this is not metaphor. It is status. It is belonging. It is the declaration that God has chosen your life as his home. Holiness is not something you strive for to earn his presence. Holiness is the result of his presence already within you. God promised this long before Christ came through Ezekiel. He said, I will put my spirit within you. Ezekiel 36:27 not near you, not around you, within you. The temple reality is the fulfillment of that promise. You are not trying to get close to God. You are living from the God who has made his home inside you.
[00:01:22] Paul expands this even further. We are the temple of the living God. I will dwell in them and walk among them. 2 Corinthians 6:16 God does not visit you. He inhabits you. He does not occasionally draw near. He has permanently taken residence. This means your identity is not defined by your past, your failures, your weaknesses, or your performance.
[00:01:45] Your identity is defined by the one who lives within you.
[00:01:49] To be God's temple means you belong. Temples are owned, protected and cherished by the God who inhabits them. You are not abandoned. You are not unclaimed. You are not spiritually homeless. You are the dwelling place of the living God, chosen, cleansed and set apart by his presence.
[00:02:07] It also means your life carries sacred purpose. Holiness is not pressure, it is privilege. You are not trying to become holy enough for God to stay. God's presence makes you holy because he stays the temple. Reality is not about striving, but about recognizing who you already are.
[00:02:25] The place where heaven has made its home.
[00:02:28] Your body is the temple of God. Your life is his dwelling. Your identity is his presence. Everything else flows from there.
