[00:00:00] Hello, welcome to your Daily Grace. By Timothy Wilder Foundations Episode 70 Eternal life Security in Christ One of the most comforting truths in Scripture is that eternal life is secure because it is held by Christ himself. Jesus says, my sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:27 28 Eternal life is not fragile. It is not temporary. It is not dependent on our performance. It is anchored in the unbreakable grip of the good Shepherd. [00:00:40] Jesus continues by saying, my Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of my father's hand. John 10:29 Here we see a double security held by the Son and held by the Father. Our salvation is not resting in our ability to cling to God. It rests in God's ability to hold us. The strength of our salvation is not measured by our grip on him, but by his grip on us. [00:01:05] Paul reinforces this truth when he writes, you, life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:3 hidden means secure, protected, covered, and inaccessible to anything that could threaten it. If our life is hidden with Christ in God, then nothing in heaven or on earth can undo what God has done. Eternal life is not something we maintain it is something God preserves. [00:01:30] This security is not a license to live carelessly. It is the foundation for living confidently. When we know we are secure, we stop living in fear. We stop wondering if we've done enough. We stop questioning whether God is still with us. Instead, we live from a place of rest, trusting that the one who saved us is the one who keeps us. The Christian life becomes a response to God's faithfulness, not an attempt to earn it. [00:01:57] Security in Christ also means that nothing external can separate us from Him. Paul declares, nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord. Romans 8:39 not trouble, not failure, not fear, not spiritual attack, not even death itself. Eternal life is eternal because it is rooted in the eternal love of God. [00:02:21] To have eternal life is to be eternally secure. The shepherd who found you is the shepherd who keeps you. The Father who gave you to the Son is the Father who guards you. Eternal life is not only the promise of living forever, it is the promise that you are forever held, forever loved, and forever safe in Christ. [00:02:40] Thanks for listening.
