[00:00:00] Hello, welcome to your Daily Grace by Timothy Wilder foundation series episode 19 salvation salvation is from something real. [00:00:12] Grace only becomes amazing when we understand what we actually needed saving from. The Bible does not describe sin as a minor flaw or simple human weakness. It describes it as bondage, blindness, alienation, and death. [00:00:26] Scripture for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 Humanity's problem was never merely bad behavior. It was separation from the life of God himself. Sin produces guilt because it is real. It produces emptiness because separation from God is real. And death, both spiritual and physical, is the natural result of that separation. For the wages of sin is death. [00:00:53] Modern culture often reduces salvation to self help, emotional comfort, or becoming a nicer person. But Jesus did not come merely to improve humanity. He came to rescue humanity from something devastatingly real. Scripture says we were dead in trespasses and sins. [00:01:11] Not wounded, not merely struggling dead. That is why grace matters so deeply. If sin were only weakness, we might simply need instruction. If humanity were mostly good, we might only need motivation. But if mankind is spiritually dead and separated from God, then only divine intervention can save us. This is why the cross stands at the center of the Gospel. Jesus entered fully into our condition in order to destroy the power of sin and death through his own death and resurrection. But God commendeth His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. [00:01:48] Grace is not God ignoring sin. Grace is God overcoming what humanity could never overcome on its own. The severity of salvation's rescue is what makes the beauty of grace so overwhelming. We were not saved from inconvenience. We were saved from separation, judgment and death itself. And that is why salvation is not merely helpful news. It is good news. [00:02:11] Thanks for listening.
