Show Notes

Easter is the celebration of the finished work of Christ and the beginning of the New Covenant—a new reality where restoration with God is fully accomplished. Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, the Law was fulfilled and a new and living way was opened for all who believe. No longer defined by striving or separation, believers now live in the fullness of grace, with Christ dwelling within them. The resurrection stands as the eternal confirmation that this work is complete, victorious, and life-giving.

[00:00:00] Speaker A: Hello. Welcome to your Daily Grace. By Timothy Wilder Easter A Celebration of the beginning of the New Covenant Easter is not just a moment on the calendar. It is a remembrance and celebration of the unveiling of a finished work and the beginning of a new reality. It is a day of celebration because what Jesus accomplished was not left incomplete, but brought to victory. It is the declaration that God's intention from the very beginning was never distance, never partial restoration, and never a temporary covering of sin, but full reconciliation, a restored relationship, a new and living way to know Him. The Old Covenant, with all its structure, sacrifices and repeated reminders, was never the end of the story. It pointed forward to something greater. And in Jesus that greater reality has come. Jesus, the perfect and sinless Son of God, fulfilled what the law required in its entirety, not by setting it aside, but by bringing it to its intended completion. [00:01:10] Speaker B: Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. In that fulfillment, the Old Covenant reached its purpose and a new covenant was established, one not built on continual sacrifice or human striving, but on the finished and sufficient work of Christ. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Easter, then, is not about the cross. It is about completion. It is about what was accomplished in Christ, bringing an end to what separated us and opening the way for restored fellowship with God. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. This is the heart of the gospel, not that humanity works its way back to God, but that God in Christ has made the way for us to return to him. And the resurrection stands as the living confirmation that this work is complete, accepted and victorious. He is not here, for he has risen. As he said, Jesus lives. And because he lives, the New Covenant is not merely a theological concept. It is a living reality, a relationship [00:02:34] Speaker A: that is no longer distant or external, but personal and internal. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. This is the ongoing life of the believer, not striving to reach God, but living from the reality that Christ now lives within and in Him. We are not left unchanged. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come. Easter reminds us that what God accomplished in Christ was not partial or provisional. It was complete and enduring. Sin has been dealt with, separation has been overcome. The way has been opened. And now, in the risen life of Jesus, we are invited into a restored relationship with God, one marked not by striving, but by life, not by distance, but by nearness, and not by the old covenant of shadows, but by the fullness of grace and truth revealed in Christ. This is the new covenant, this is the Gospel, and this is the life we now share in Him. Thanks for listening.
