The Freedom of a Finished Work

This post explores the freedom that comes from knowing justification is a finished work. Scripture shows that God’s verdict of righteousness is final, secure, and grounded in Christ alone. This truth frees us from fear, striving, and self‑condemnation. It invites us to live confidently in the grace that has already secured us forever.

[00:00:00] Hello, welcome to your Daily Grace By Timothy wilder foundations episode 43 justified by the Freedom of a Finished Work One of the most freeing truths in the entire Gospel is that justification is a finished work. Paul anchors this reality with a single unshakable it is God who justifies. [00:00:26] If God Himself is the one who declares us righteous, then no one else, not people, not religion, not our past, not our failures, and not even our own self condemning thoughts has the authority to overturn his verdict. Justification is not a process we maintain. It is a verdict God has spoken, sealed and secured through the finished work of Christ. This means the believer standing before God is not fragile or conditional. It does not rise and fall with our best days or collapse under our worst ones. Jesus Himself declared it is finished and those words echo through the entire Christian life. The work that makes us righteous is complete. The sacrifice that removes our guilt is complete. The obedience that fulfills the law is complete. We are not trying to finish what Christ already finished. We are living in the good of what he has already done. [00:01:21] Paul reinforces this confidence when he writes, having been justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. [00:01:32] Justification is not a temporary status waiting to be revoked. It is a blood bought reality grounded in the unchanging righteousness of Christ. God does not justify us reluctantly or cautiously. He justifies us joyfully, fully and forever. [00:01:47] The verdict is not innocent until proven guilty. Again, it is righteous because Christ is righteous. [00:01:54] This finished work also frees us from the exhausting cycle of self evaluation. [00:01:59] We no longer live under the pressure to prove ourselves worthy of God's acceptance. We no longer fear that one failure will undo what Christ has done. Scripture assures us he is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through him. Hebrews 7:25 to the uttermost Completely, permanently without condition Grace doesn't just save us. Grace secures us. The freedom of a finished work means we walk through life with a settled heart. We rest in a righteousness that is not ours. We stand in a verdict that cannot be overturned, and we live with the confidence that the one who justified us will never change his mind. [00:02:41] Thanks for listening.
